Course Relations and All Things Considered
A goal throughout the analysis of this project that we have wished to highlight is how, in an abstract way, eyebrows themselves can be looked at as objects. How they are up-kept, presented, the implications they hold, the ways they are designed and the materials used to design them - are all important in understanding the larger implications of what eyebrows say about society. Eyebrows serve as an individuals' style of branding, whether it be cultural, economical, or personal.
Drawing on some Course readings, we found that In Thomas P. Hughes's "Edison and Electric Light", Hughes talks about the importance of relating all things to a central idea. He explains that there is a need to step beyond a particular system and venture out into that of another in order to understand the importance of an invention or object. The eyebrow itself - is an object - that can be studied based on this premise. We have looked at eyebrows by venturing out into understanding what they say about humans as a species, about humans and their culture, about humans in todays society and about where humans will go from here.
Like Edison's systematic method of invention, eyebrow design is a blend of many things. In regards to eyebrow design specifically, it blends culture, societal impacts such as the economy, and of course the original biological design of the eyebrow.

Furthermore, in The Mourning and Method article from our course online site, we found many references that can apply to our theory of eyebrow design. It notes:
“In the sight of old objects that continue to exist materially in the present, but whose once noisy and busy existence has long since been silenced, there is something profoundly melancholy.”
It is this idea that throughout time, certain objects lose significant meaning. However, we believe that it is not a matter of lost functionality, but a matter of simply working to uncover new meaning that which art historians can work to find. While many objects are from centuries ago, we think that regardless of technological innovation or culture change, they can still play a major role in society but just in a different way than its initial purpose. Similar to this idea is what we discussed in lecture about the building of the pyramids and how that process has played out into our idea of system building and organization among social and political groups. Initially, pyramids were not built with the intention of representing structural systems in our society, but through time, we have discovered these methods by studying the roots of the building and managing process that is behind them. We think that while it is important to learn about the history of specific objects, it is just as important to apply the object to modern day practices.
Again, it may seem a bit abstract to connect the design of eyebrows to the previous subjects discussed, however that is why we feel that this topic is innovative and extremely relevant to this class project. We have worked hard to set the stage of the eyebrows' role in the past - and while analyzing those roles, we have come to realize that today they fill similar ones. Just like in the Mourning and Method article, eyebrows did once have a "noisy existence", and actually still do, however our approach enabled us to realize that that "noisy existence" was never really heard. We were able to uncover some insightful findings and analyze eyebrows on an entirely new level.
Having plucked and tweezed the object of the eyebrow and its design through time, we will never look at eyebrows the same way. Hopefully this project has compelled you to do the same.

CONSENSUS
Eyebrows can be looked at as an object on its own. Long story short - we hope that throughout our website, you have been able to capture the essence of how the design of eyebrows is important as an expression of who we are, who we were, and who we will be.
